Identifying Sure Signs Of The Final Economic Plunge
82 Comments »Giordano Bruno
Neithercorp Press – 01/12/10
Many researchers, including those here at Neithercorp, have projected that the third and final stage of the economic collapse will begin sometime in 2010. Barring some kind of financial miracle, or the complete dissolution of the Federal Reserve, a snowballing implosion should become visible by the end of this year. Data indicates that the dollar and the Dow are running on nothing but false promises and fiat bailouts, and that this game is slowly winding down. The Fed cannot sustain its current rate of liquidity injections without raising the ire of foreign nations heavily invested in U.S. debt, especially when banks have refused to loosen their lending practices as promised, thereby hoarding all bailout funds made available to them and stifling any chance of a credit market recovery.
Understandably, an important question has arisen among those people who are trying to prepare for the event; When EXACTLY will the collapse occur?
Of course, we aren’t psychic, and narrowing down the final trigger to the exact day, or even the exact month, would be extremely difficult. However, what we can do is explain what signs to look for, how to look for them, and what dangers they foretell. Economics gives the appearance of a complex and confusing science, but most economic indicators taught in business schools are really hollow background noise, designed to do nothing more than make television investment analysts seem more intelligent than they really are. All we need to know are the fundamentals, the unchangeable concrete factors that all economies operate on, and how to tell when they are beginning to falter. The following list is composed of signs anyone with a little work and a little vigilance can keep track of, giving them an even greater edge in knowing when the house of cards is really about to topple…
Gold And Dollar Decoupling
Although U.S. Treasury markets and the dollar are currently being manipulated by the Federal Reserve’s fiat purchasing of T-bonds, watching the Dollar index in comparison with gold can give a good indication of when the final drop will occur. Over the past decade, the dollar has lost around 40% of its value, while gold has increased 400% in value. Gold’s increase is due in very large part to the devaluation of the Greenback, but it also indicates a surging international interest in precious metals, especially in Asia. Traditionally, when the dollar decreases in value, gold moves up, and when the dollar increases in value, gold falls. However, over the past four months, there have been sporadic incidences in which gold’s price has increased even though the dollar gained in value. These incidences have lasted only a day or two at a time, but they show that gold is starting to move on its own accord, slowly decoupling from the dollar and even being used as a competing form of currency in some places.
The Vietnamese Government, for instance, recently threatened to shut down all gold bullion trade in the country by the end of March, because Vietnamese merchants and consumers are abandoning their own inflated currency and using gold instead. The Vietnamese have also stopped using American dollars, once considered a safe store of value:
http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5i2CFXWwN6o8w7nn9GqYjOZ2dHNwA
Banking elites in Western nations have been short selling gold for decades in order to keep the price down, and obstruct gold from becoming a competing alternative to the Dollar. Now, we are beginning to see gold move despite banker manipulation. Just before the onset of a dollar implosion, one should watch for gold to begin jumping steeply higher regardless of the behavior of currency markets. Any reports that blocs of foreign nations are increasing the exchange of U.S. Treasuries (beyond what they have done already) and buying large stores of gold would also signal a dollar collapse. In the event that average Americans begin considering the use of gold and silver in place of the dollar, as in Vietnam, you know the final downturn has begun.
Price Inflation Of Oil
For a long time, oil has been traded on the world markets exclusively in U.S. Dollars. Oil and the dollar are therefore intimately connected. Oil will be the first commodity to reveal any inflation (or hyperinflation) in the dollar during a breakdown. Currently, oil is steadily gaining, now hovering around $80 a barrel, or nearly $3 a gallon. Some in the MSM claim this is due to harsh winter conditions around the world, while others say it is due to the weakness and distrust in the Greenback. Not too long ago, oil prices were manipulated upwards by speculators to the tune of $150 a barrel:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/07/24/markets/cftc/index.htm
I suspect that this manipulation was not just an act of greed, but part of a larger strategy by the financial elite to acclimate Americans to the idea of gas price inflation, so that when it occurs again Americans will not be as quick to react, once again blaming speculators, instead of the real cause; a dollar implosion.
Another oil price increase anywhere near the $150 mark is an implicit warning that the economy is about to falter, especially if that increase continues on through summer months.
Dollar Loses World Reserve Currency Status
An announcement by any foreign nation, especially those that hold large stores of U.S. debt, that they will be dropping the dollar and trading in a different currency is a tremendous warning. The dollar is a very weak currency. It’s only saving grace, the thread it hangs by, is the fact that it still has world reserve status, meaning, it is a trade currency accepted by all nations. If BRIC nations, or OPEC oil producers, were to announce that they will no longer trade goods using dollars, expect an immediate tanking of our currency, along with treasury markets. Those that catch this news as it starts will probably have a month or maybe two to get all their preparations in order and distance themselves from any potential danger areas. Hyperinflation has the distinct ability to bring out the worst in a society. People can handle a Dow collapse, or even deflation, but when a currency is destroyed, all possible means of self support are lost unless one was prepared. Those who are not will lose the whole of their life savings in one fell swoop.
U.S. Treasury Dump
This is a little more difficult to track, simply because most foreign creditors do not want to announce openly that they are dumping their U.S. Treasuries. Such incidences can cause war, among other things. What can be tracked easily is the amount of treasuries being sold to other countries. Currently, other nations have nearly frozen their investment in our debt:
http://market-ticker.denninger.net/archives/1730-TIC-Data-Confirms-Foreign-Appetite-Gone.html
The U.S. deficit for the fiscal year 2009 came in at a record $1.42 trillion, more than triple the record set in 2008. The total national debt (according to the government) is now at a whopping $12 trillion and climbing! This debt cannot be sustained without a constant flow of money from other countries. If these countries stop purchasing our debt, then our Treasury will become insolvent. The country will be bankrupt. The Federal Reserve is currently trying to stave off this event by purchasing U.S. debt; basically legalized currency manipulation, much like paying off one credit card bill with yet another credit card. According to reports, the Fed now accounts for 91% of all U.S. debt purchases. This is a very bad sign:
http://www.zerohedge.com/article/ultimate-shell-game-federal-reserve-funds-us-deficit
Eventually, we will hear reports that foreign holders of treasury debt have not only stopped buying new treasuries, but are also dumping the treasuries they already have because of the Fed’s extreme devaluation policies. If this happens on a large scale, a collapse is about to take place.
Simultaneous Dow / Dollar Drop
Normally, when the Dow loses value and investors pull their savings out of stocks, they tend to put those savings into dollar backed securities or treasuries as a “safe haven”. This causes the value of the dollar to increase whenever the Dow falls, but the balancing act is beginning to change. One clear indication of a collapse would be the simultaneous fall of the Dow and the Dollar over a moderate period. This would denote a loss of safe haven status in the dollar as well as uncertainty among investors in stocks. A double whammy like this could prove to be an alert of impending disintegration.
A good time to watch for this signal would be around June or July, when it is rumored the Fed will begin raising interest rates from near zero.
Jobs And Housing
As we predicted recently, job loss which was hidden by the Labor Department in November is now beginning to show in December. We expect that job loss numbers will begin to grow more aggressive from this point on, as companies that hired temporary workers for the Christmas season proceed with layoffs in February and March.
Real unemployment, counting the U-6 measurement, is around 20%. When this measurement reaches between 25% and 30% (Great Depression levels), the country may be on the edge of final collapse.
Also, watching the small and medium sized business sector will help in discovering when job markets will completely tank. Small and medium businesses support around two thirds of all U.S. jobs, but these companies are now in dire straights:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/34825943
Most of these firms say they will be cutting even more jobs in 2010, not hiring.
Another important factor is the housing market and what are called “Option ARM Mortgages.” ARM mortgages are basically what created the housing bubble in the first place, by offering loans at artificially low interest rates which then increase after a set time period. Millions of people have home payments based on ARM mortgages, and many of these contracts are about to expire, meaning their payments will mushroom, and they will go bankrupt. California alone has hundreds of thousands of homes with ARM mortgages ready to expire in the next year:
http://www.cnbc.com/id/34729005
Watch closely for announcements of mass ARM mortgage resets, which could herald even greater losses in housing, as well as an increase in the homeless population.
Grocery Store Peculiarities
Wholesale prices of goods have recently been increasing far beyond what mainstream economists had predicted, hinting at the first steps towards inflation:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Spike-in-wholesale-inflation-apf-2682030532.html?x=0
Grocery store chains tend to “absorb” the extra cost of their stock in the hope that wholesale prices will soon drop again, and in order to keep from losing customers due to high prices, but this has the added effect of hiding true inflation from the public. Eventually, stores and manufacturers can no longer absorb the inflation, and either raise their prices, or diminish their volume. Keep careful note of your local grocery stores. Are items being “repackaged” by manufacturers to hold less for the same price? Is your $4, twenty ounce box of cereal now $4.50 and only fifteen ounces? Are items beginning to disappear entirely from the stores stock, especially foreign made goods? Are base goods such as rice or bread increasing in price weekly or bi-weekly? This may be due to an explosion in wholesale inflation, as well as financial weakness in the general economy.
Bank Holiday
A bank holiday is essentially the government closure of all banks and financial instruments dealing with banks for a set period of time. This means you will not be able to pull money from your account, you will not be able to make deposits, and you will not be able to use checks or debit cards, or even use an ATM. If you have no cash (or other valuables) on hand, you are in big trouble. A bank holiday is often announced in response to out of control bank closures, and is supposed to give banks time to shore up funds, as well as keep you from pulling all your money out at once. A bank holiday could also occur in the event that the FDIC is about to crumble, which is very likely. The FDIC is already broke, and is drawing on fiat currency from the Fed and the Treasury in order to continue covering the accounts of shut down banks. Over 140 banks closed last year. If this rate continues, or expands this year, then the FDIC will no longer be able to operate. If a bank holiday is announced, an announcement of Treasury insolvency is also likely.
Terror Attack / New War
The world is on the brink as it is. If a terrorist attack (false flag attack), or a new war arises, it is time to collect your gear, your family, your friends, and make for the hills (if that’s where you plan to go). Any new and extended threat of conflict in 2010 will be used as an excuse to institute martial law and subjugation of civil liberties, not to mention trigger a financial meltdown. Is the morning news reporting an attack on Iran, or the bombing of a New York subway? It’s time.
These events and triggers represent a “litmus test” for the economy that anyone can apply without spending every day in front of a computer screen tracking stock yields, hedge funds, or Federal Reserve press releases. Many people have already made extensive preparations, knowing that a breakdown is imminent, but with a little extra knowledge and effort, their edge on the collapse can be made ever sharper. No amount of preparation will stave off the psychological shock of sudden economic implosion if one does not keep alert to the prerequisite signs. Watching the simple indicators listed above can help in affording you every opportunity, giving you the ability to see the wreck before it even happens.

Another great article. It is hard to predict what the first, second, third…. “events” will be, but I think we will have some prepare time. Unless the wild card of an attack by us, or on us occurs. Then immediate bank holiday may occur. The possibility of such an attack grows when you think that the elites could divert attention from themselves, and instead blame the “terrrorists” for collapsing the economy. Keeping the resistence, and organization of the people subdued. This will be a year for sure.
Johnny,
You better be prepared right now.
When a mass panic occurs you will not have any or much time to prepare. If you are not prepared right now you are playing with fire.
We are in the cusp now. By the time most of these indicators become any clearer it will be to late. If you are going to relocate you need to be looking at it NOW if you wait much longer you are going to be “locked in place”. Once oil prices pass $100.00, grocery prices jump (inching up now), the ARMs or commercial property problems become unmanageable, jobs are 22% to 24% according to shadow stats. ZeroHedge article from last weekend raised the question that BLS/WH may be under reporting by as much as 32% which puts U-6 at 22% to 24% and shadow stats at 27% to 29/30% now. Treasuries, Japan was caught trying to move 1/3 of their treasures. The Fed has monitized around 91% of all US FedGov dept in 2009. Also most APAC countries are buying gold… The numbers form the holidays are bad. Look at the executive orders… And one failed false flag over the holidays and covert troops in Yemon along with closing our office and air strikes. So I guess we are only waiting for the event that will be used to bring it all down. We really are out of time…
You should be thrown in jail for writing crap like this. None of your sources are legitimate. No better than Fox news.
I’m sure that the copyright owners for your images also authorized their use..
Pathetic.
Whata Joke:
What sources are you referring to? Mainline Reuters, or CNBC? What exactly do you consider legitimate? Every source included is a simple and supported news resource. And exactly how does one get thrown in jail for writing an article? I’m assuming by your Fox news comment that you’re one of the many naive Obama supporters who will cry foul over any criticism of government no matter how factual. I bet you didn’t mind it when people like us were bringing the hammer down on Bush for the same stuff, did you. How about some intelligent criticism with actual specifics included next time instead of broad generalized comments that a 12 year old would mutter under his breath.
4 years ago I had people screaming at me telling me, “Its time to stock up or be left behind and hungry! Its time to scope out a place to survive because things are going down hill fast! Run for the HILLS!!!!!”
I took the temperature and realized they were full of crap. It was going to hang together for quite some time. …and we still have some time. Don’t get in a hurry but now is not the time to go back to sleep.
I can see the train and I think its on this track, the wrong track. Its too far away to be completely sure. But, *I* *CAN* *SEE* *THE* *TRAIN*!!! Its not time to panic and its not time to worry. It is time to start stocking up. Anything that you would have difficulty doing without, you better get some set back. How much? *SOME*.
I may have a lot. You may have a little but think of it this way: If you run out of gas and you have a 5 gallon can of gas in the trunk, hey! Thats great. If its only a gallon, its probably enough. If you have a pint, that probably isn’t enough but, handled properly, that pint might get you a few miles. If its in a snowstorm, its better than dying. …and who can’t afford to carry an extra pint, huh? Do it and stop making excuses.
So, start doing it. Food, Fuel, Ammo. I’ve been doing it slowly over the last 6 months.
I found the easiest way was to buy non perishable items at the rate of twice what I needed. If I bought a jar of peanut butter, I’d buy two. A can of beans, buy two. A bag of rice, buy two.
The next week, when I needed another jar of peanut butter, I would buy two, put those at the back of the shelf and pull one to use. In 6 months I have amassed a pickup load of food. Sure, I’m spending way more on food but its not like they can tax me for storing it. But, even if you just go buy 5 extra jars of peanut butter, two cases of bottled water and a bag of rice, you’re way better off then if you had nothing. …and way better off than 95% of the population.
Don’t forget: Make provisions to prepare your food too. Get some alternative ways to cook and prepare your food.
There are all kinds of things to do but in the beginning, just do things that make sense. You can fine tune later.
Good luck and be safe.
And keep reading NeitherCorp.us!
I love it when people come in here and shill for the sheeple. Keep the bogus dream going, Jokey. When it hits the fan, don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Gio can handle an argument but your version of argument is hard to even read because you obviously just have your mind made up and will do anything but discuss in an intelligent manner.
In my opinion Gio showed great patience in not dumping your crappy comment into the crapper.
Come in talk to us and show us where this is faulty. Don’t just spout accusations and then leave it hanging. Thats too MSNBCesque.
G,
Nice job. I, like many of you, am on the lookout for signs of triggering actions. God help us if it comes down via a 911 type attack, suddenly and emotionally. Gerald Celente predicts this for 2010, and I hope he’s wrong.
In keeping stores of food, water, and fuel….let us also keep in mind our neighbors. I’ve yet to start organizing a neighborhood group focusing on taking care of each other, but it is on my list of things to accomplish. In witnessing the Katrina disaster, we can see that when TSHTF, there is no one but ourselves to help ourselves. Small community organizations will be paramount in the coming years, if for nothing more than bartering opportunities.
We’re in this together….. let’s keep that in mind as the storm pours its’ deluge of fear. Divide and conquer has been a very successful play in the playbook of the elites. By coming together (thanks John, Paul, George, and Ringo) we diffuse that play.
Be well………..
Gio.The thought “not all in that order, are all at the same time,” comes to mind.Thank you for a simple and understandable way of reading future possibilities. As always, another insightful article without any left/right paradigm slants.{as we know you don’t care for that nonsense anyway!}keep it up!It is good to know and see warning signs as they are about to happen, and hopefully be prepared.
Dont forget either, in these times, to keep a giving, warm heart. i also urge as many willing to listen to toss your t.v. out, or pawn it, quit spending countless hours playing video games, and spread the word to those who seek it. i understand there will b that group of ppl out there not willing to face the truth, but its ok,its about that time when we know who these ppl our in our lives by now, and if u dont kno who well check, ask and see. Start exercising, quit drinking cokes, and gluttony is never good. physically prepare yourselves is an idea u all should already be thinking of. furthermore, start reading and learning constantly, those who strive to b a good person with equality to all and with a thirst for knowledge r the most prepared of all. U would b surprised at the gifts that our universal creator grants us when we face our fears. u never will kno till u ask, with the one and only lord on the side of good, there is nothing to fear, especially wen one day each of us r freed from the bondage of flesh and bone. humans, the prized creation of the one and only, truely have unlimited potential, never give into the temptations of darkness. jus remember those who seek the truth with the intent of love, putting others in your life first before yourself, will b granted it. and the bondage of fear will lift and your will synchronizes with the will of god and satisfaction will occur as light prevails over dark, good over evil, the ultimate duality of our reality, our plane of existance. I create this rift for those to see, change the world by spreading love and compassion to those around you. Show truth in a way that ppl can comprehend because u have to remember, theyre state of mind is in the box, not outside of it, yet. dont talk about it be about it.
all what is written here is correct, boy scout motto be prepared. stock up on guns, ammo, butter, money. one form of currency is booze or smokes
“God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.” (Acts 17:24-25)

What you need to prepare!
[...] giving you the ability to see the wreck before it even happens. [link to neithercorp.us] Identifying Sure Signs Of The Final Economic Plunge : Neithercorp Press __________________ laundry– [...]
Good article. For two decades I felt that the fiat, debt-driven system we have will not sustain. And I do believe that current recovery is overstated and will not sustain.
The problem is that it is difficult to get clear information and these things never unfold in predictable ways.
We all want to be proven right, but if we take that out of the equation, what is the sensible thing to do now? Will the economy collapse in month or year or five years? Will it be from loss of confidence in the dollar, peak oil, commercial real estate or some other thing?
Is it time to buy up non-perishable supplies? Gold and silver?
Karma:
I can say with a good amount of certainty that the economy will falter within the next two years and the trigger for this collapse will happen this year. I actually hope that I and other economists and researchers predicting this are proven wrong, but the data suggests otherwise.
If you do not have food storage, water storage and filtration, and a means of defending yourself, I recommend you get these things as soon as possible. Gold and silver will help in the period just preceding a full dollar collapse, when their value has skyrocketed. You can use it to collect more survival goods when fiat paper has lost most of its value. PM’s also have great value during the rebuilding phase, after a collapse has subsided, if, that is, you have a safe place to store your gold or silver until the crisis is over.
I like your comments a lot, especially the ones on how to prepare. Question No one is talking about the hugh diaspora. There will be huge movements of people. My background says there will be people moving with nothing but the clothes on their back. They should pray they are not with child. Is this in the near future.
How do we deal with that. Any thoughts.
Something to watch for.
The time to kick an empire is when it’s down.
Obama the checkers player toughens sanctions on Iran (US Naval Blockade)Iran sees this as an act of war and with nuke tipped Yakhonts and Sunburns supplied by her close allies, chess players China and Russia sinks our Naval ships and Carriers and takes out all our bases in the area with their new state of the art missiles.
WWIII is very close and this will make the economic collapse minor in comparasion.
from YNET this morning -
Iranian defense minister warns his country could strike back at war vessels deployed in Persian Gulf. ‘The Westerners know well that existence of warships serves as best operational targets for Iran should they undertake military action,’ Ahmad Vahidi says
Ahmad Vahidi said there were now more than 90 war vessels in the Gulf – a waterway crucial for global oil supplies – and that they had created a “military environment” there.”What is the reason underlying the deployment of this many warships and what aim are they pursuing … are they arrayed against Iran?”
Rosy,
How do we know there will be huge movements of people? Why do you say this? Where will they be going? What will they be moving from? From disaster to prosperity? There won’t be any prosperity… ANYWHERE. When a land and a society crumble everywhere all at once. where is there to go? Maybe to a warmer climate. I don’t know. Please enlighten me because I don’t see massive population movement with this economic disaster.
NetRanger; I would guess that the huge movements of people Rosy is referring to would be out of the cities and major population centers. Once services break down and vital supplies are no longer flowing, people will have to migrate to where food, water and whatever else they need can be found. Most cities can provide a maximum of 72 hours or supply without replenishment.
Good comments…I prepare, but for God’s sake don’t tell others!! Keep it to yourself and spouse..don’t tell the kids, neighbors, or other relatives..It’s gonna be everyone for themselves!! These folks that prepared for y2k aren’t doing anything they say, because they had to toss everything out incl wood stoves, dehydrated foods, grain grinders, etc. and nothing happened. Several friends who prepared for anything, have sense died and the heirs threw all the preps out; tons of stuff. They only kept the PM’s. There will be many suicides and hopelessness as the country will be trashed forever.
I’ve done all the research, got the survival gear, bought gold silver and guns, water filters, escape plan, etc. but now have turned it all over because I came to the only conclusion for Life: believing on Jesus Christ.
No way you can survive the coming end times w/o Jesus as savior.
And end times ARE coming….I think a new heaven and earth by 2026, but don’t trust your eternal salvation to MY predictions lol. Only Jesus saves.
It’s all about oil folks. So long as the World is forced to buy the stuff using USDs at gunpoint (i.e. U.S. Navy), the USD will remain the World’s reserve currency. In fact, this is the only reason why the American economy has not already collapsed.
Hyper-inflation means nations must get their hands on more USDs once their reserves run out. The only way to do this is by selling stuff to Americans.
Only a large scale war and/or change in direction by the Syndicate can change this.
Oil Guy:
Actually, all OPEC nations have to do is switch to a different reserve currency and dump their T-bonds. The U.S. could try to start a war with every oil producing nation in response, but the dollar would still collapse. There is really nothing stopping OPEC from dropping the dollar, and hyperinflation would in no way require them to attain more dollars, simply because dollars would no longer have reserve status. Causing a dollar implosion is far easier than people seem to realize.
Excellent article and well researched. This article deserves everyone’s full attention!! People who doubt these warning signs will compound the suffering for themselves and their family. The Bozos who doubt these dire warnings should be booted from their family house, because they will have ignored a warning that has come from someone who cares about humanity. Nice work Mr. Giordano Bruno. By the way, FOX NEWS and their staff are a total Fraud, and soon enough they too will collapse just like the Fed and the dollar.
while I don’t doubt all this will come down fairly soon I fail to see getting all this stuff survivalist are talking about, if we have to leave our homes how are you gonna transport all that stuff? and if you head for the hills the military is gonna flush everyone out of there, the homeless can’t even pitch a tent without being made to move now, with all those drones there using now they’ll be flying over the country looking for people in the country side, the only thing I’m gonna do is trust in Jesus, I’ll definitly try to flee if they declare marital law but a bunch of stuff just slows you down, Jesus said when the time comes don’t go back to your house to get anything just go.
giordano:
In a simplistic world, sure you’re right, but the World is far from simplistic.
While Venezuela and Iran might not have too much trouble dumping the Dollar, the same cannot be said with the rest of OPEC.
London, New York and DC tell OPEC where the price of oil will stand, not the other way around. If that is not true, many, if not all, of these nations would have switched to the Euro years ago.
Think about it.
The onrushing economic collapse has been engineered. When the time suits them, the Syndicate will pull the plug on America.
A good source of info on the economy is gcnlive.com…God Bless you All
Oil Guy:
Sorry, but it really IS that simple.
You’re preaching to the choir on the elitist influence over oil, believe me, but its not like a race car, its more like a steam ship. They can tilt its direction slightly one way or the other, but once it picks up speed, there’s only so much they can manipulate. They’re not infallable. They were able to inflate the dollar, but they can’t, for instance, reverse what they have already done, or stop the snowballing collapse once it has started. You give them too much credit.
Also, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have been openly discussing dropping the dollar since 2008. Iran has already dropped the dollar.
As I said before, the dollar is essentially already dead. OPEC, or the BRIC nations can dump it at any time, and this will cause hyperinflation. The elites are COUNTING ON IT. The Dollar is of no use to them any longer. They want to push SDR’s now. Count on this event being triggered this year.
bk20:
We all have our responsibilities on this Earth. Sitting around waiting for God to solve all our problems is not one of them. Conscience dictates that we must survive, and that we must stop the imbalance and injustice created by elitists, not give them free reign to do what they please, and that is good enough for me.
Frankly I’m not impressed since this is simply a consolidation of current news events. There is no original thought here, or in depth analysis. I agree we are up Sh**s creek without a paddle, so what else is new? I believe we should focus on means to solve this problem in stead of just reporting on it, then telling us to be ready. I don’t want to run away, I want to confront this. We need leaders that build community support which results in citizens taking back control of their electorate and those who represent us in Government. We need a strong representative third party. The successful election of Scott Brown in Massachusetts is an example of citizens using their voting privileges to regain control of the political process…lets hope this republican actually means what he claimed, I wish he was an independent candidate, but its a positive move forward for citizens none the less.
Eddy:
The purpose of the article is to point out FUNDAMENTALS, not reinvent the wheel, or impress you. Many people are not yet educated on the basic indicators of collapse.
Also, are you actually counting on the false left/right election paradigm to save you from a dollar implosion that is already in progress? Lets not be naive…
In order to solve a problem, you must first be able to see it coming, and be aware of why it is happening. Perhaps you should read the article again….
Thank you for a succinct article. It is my belief that there are many problems with the “world economic model” as it exists today, and the US, because of its position of dominance, is most guilty of perpetuating a broken system. Having said that, it seems very unlikely to me that any government, and relatively few individuals (especially politicians), want to see it end. But that doesn’t mean it won’t. It just means that the implosion/explosion will be totally uncontrolled, with no thought or preparation for the vacuum that will result. The farther into the future this is pushed, the worse the fall. So, although it will mean tremendous hardship for so many people, I do not hope your predictions are proven wrong. It is my sense that many of us, if we are honest with ourselves, want the inevitable to come, and the sooner the better. Besides the moral issue of pushing the problem onto future generations, I simply want to be able to help my children, my neighbors, and my community, navigate safely through it. And in that lies tremendous hope: that what emerges will be a better-balanced (in so many ways) humanity. Naive, perhaps, but it seems that the service you provide with articles like these and the comments of like-minded readers promote the idea of preparedness (in whatever form one chooses) and that, ultimately, the coming vacuum can be filled with goodness.
There is another trigger looming in the near future. At the end of March, the Standard Growth Rate (SGR) calculation in Medicare payments to physicians and hospitals will tick over. If the current health care bill fails (it looks like it will) and there is not some emergency fix (it needs to be funded, but that is increasingly difficult), then hospitals will have to shut down. They cannot absorb the 20% or more cut that this will be. This issue is far more complex than I have time to go into here. Even if it is deferred in an 11th hour decision, the uncertainty might start the crumbling of an already unstable medical system. In addition to the direct economic loss from the medical industry itself, we will be contending with a reduced worker efficiency and a very angry populace.
I read with interest many of the comments, many of the folks out there believe that the faltering of the economy and America poppycock. Friends, please listen, this situation in this country has been brewing for many years and is now coming to a head. Be not and unbeliever, this is real and it WILL come to be. The mass media, whether it be fox/cnbc/abc or the rest, people will have to look for themselves, the signs are there, the cost of survival either home upkeep, food, fuel, med.’s, jobs, retai or commercial sectors, all have been impacted, many will not survive. I personally am not speaking of who did what did it, but what the conclusion may end up being. The collaspe of this economy will happen, the collaspe of the civilization as we presently know, will collaspe.
God is not going to continue letting his creation be prostituted by bankers, politicians and oil to the end.
Great article…folks, preceding any collapse of the real economy, will be the collapse/control of information. Imagine, only ‘authorized’ web sites available, and search engines neutered.
Save your favorites list and ‘prep’ up your computer now…

Thank you for an interesting read. My thoughts:
It’s impossible to predict exactly how or the precise time frame these events will take. If you can survive for a few months (or maybe a year) without going to the supermarket, that’s probably the most any of us of ordinary means can plan for. My plan is do that and also to minimize my reliance on utility, municipal, and other services. Life wouldn’t be the same without them, but at least I would still have the basics: food, water & sanitation and minimal electricity for refrigeration, lighting, and small electronics.
Precious metals are more likely to retain value than paper currency, but I prefer tangible commodities to gold coins. If you are fortunate enough to have all the tangibles you could use on hand already then it couldn’t hurt to keep a pile of coins too.
PS. For those who want to stockpile enough guns and ammo to equip an army, consider how many engagements you are likely to survive, how much ammo might be expended per engagement, and plan accordingly. If you’re rich (or have the desire to become a warlord), you may have different ideas. :-)
Thanks for writing this article. I’ve been following this for decades, yes decades. The more people we can wake up the better for all of us. Prepare now. Avoid camp FEMA.
Hey Zac
I plan to survive all my engagements. The one I don’t, then it won’t matter anymore. ;0)
Very good article with interesting replies.
[...] Are there signs that the U.S. economy is on the verge of another massive plunge? [...]
Only God knows when the end is coming and he is not telling. It is said that God helps those that help themselves, so, why not prep for a clamity of some sort. I do and knowing that I am doing what I can to prepare helps me sleep better.
Hunh?!
Acquiring precious metals is great if the dollar is going to get weaker vs. the price of said metals. If it goes to zero — well what then? Most “preparation experts” or “preppers” advocate getting Bullets (guns, ammo, defensive measures, body armor, etc), Beans (food, water, means to prepare w/o power, filtration, etc), and Band-Aids (medicals supplies) FIRST until you’re stuffed to the gills — then maybe get some precious metals. You can’t eat gold or silver, and unless you’re the Lone Ranger, neither makes for good bullets. With that said, skills are even more important — especially those of value in a barter society.
Netranger:
if we have a grid down situation or monetary collapse people masses of people will exit urban areas for food and water, especially water. In california alone nearly all the water is pumped in…no electricity, no water to drink, no flushing of toilets or for sanitation purposes…’refugee’s’ will follow ‘lines of drift’ so even if you are prepared are you prepared to deal with the mind numb hordes that aren’t?
educating yourself is the greatest preparedness you can initially expend your energy on…then start taking action..
if civil society begins to destruct start asking yourself real questions:
how long will my food last?
will I share what I have and with whom?
what can I do with no electricity?
am I safe here?
what if an emp is detonated? will my car, radio? how good am I with my firearm…can I survive exposed? whats plan b, c or d?
can I do things with my hands? can I dig a ditch?
being mentally prepared and more over being AWARE of what might and does happen will be your edge..there would be alot less victims in society if more people asked ‘what if’ in lieu of being so consumed with their thought and day to day drama to miss what’s coming down the track..
other good common sense things are to prepare: camp and camp rugged, find like minded people and form a group, make lists and plans, buy a retreat where you can get to on a tank of gas that has natural resources (water, game, good soil), plant a victory garden now, convert disposable cash into bulk toiletries, canned foods, water packets, carb blocks, mre’s, water jugs, books (just think if you don’t have your computer as a resource!!), extra mags, solar battery chargers, flashlights, workout and get strong, walk and hike regularly, buy extra dog or pet food..
and of course gold and silver…probably more silver in half dollars for trading purposes…
medical supplies and medical books…survival books and knowledge…
stay and become mentally strong and be a voice to others..many people are asleep and have no concept of historical events…not even recent history like the last 100 years and hyper inflation in germany..or no concept of what europe looked like when nazi germany started to invade poland and such..the hordes of refugee’s with nothing and no plan…some are starting to wake up..spread the word..the more people that prepare the less you will have to defend or give away…
if you think this is crazy talk, look at haiti..what if an 8 point earthquake hit los angeles for say..five minutes? total devastation..compare: Northridge earthquake was 6.7 lasting roughly 15 seconds, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake was magnitude 8.3 lasting 45 seconds. The 1964 Alaska earthquake 8.4 lasted over 3 minutes…and this is natural disaster..just think if a suitcase nuke or something else?
you idiot government tells you to have enough for 3 days…i’m telling you, you have a duty to prepare for something, even if everything in this article is wrong..
good simple easy to read summary on the basics, great article..keep up the good work!
It is very interesting to read the responses to this article. You have the prepared and the sheeple. I would rather be called a fool and be prepared than to be unprepared and the bottom falls out. I have been a survivalist since I took economics 101 in college. We have been on a slow train to collapse since 1913 and the invention of the Fed Bank. History shows that fiat money systems always crash and burn eventually. There is only one way to avoid it, get out of the fiat money system. Team Obama will not get out of the fiat money system because it gives them the power to control, or so they think. That is the real problem with the elitest left they think they can control it, they are fools. And we will suffer for it.
Great article, great replies. I’m ready. Not looking forward to it, but I’m ready. Maybe whatever happens will bring some good in the end.
Intuition, Imagination, Make things yourself, buy local/organic, pay cash, teach your children right from wrong, set an example, be generous, be heard.
If you reread the article the point is, when will it all fall down. The roadsigns are there. The problem is it may take some time and if your in the over 55 crowd a wheelchair with armor plate would be a nice Christmas gift ;0).
I think when enough people get angry.
Hunger makes their children cry and betrayal is recognised by all, then things will happen in a manner those in charge will not be able to handle.
As a Christian, I know that my life after this one is assured. By the same token, I am compelled by the examples of Joseph in Genesis and the ant in Proverbs to prepare in times of plenty for the coming times of want.
Think about Haiti. When you read articles about the despair and violence there, do you really believe that average Americans would behave any differently facing the same circumstances? When your three days’ worth of food is gone and your children are crying from hunger, what will you do?
A valuable resource is http://www.survivalblog,com .
The time to prepare grows shorter with each passing moment. Get moving!
Good luck to us all.
Believing so many people to be sincerely trying to do their best to prepare for what may be just ahead for us all, and in wanting to see those efforts result in the best outcome I WOULD STRONGLY URGE ALL TO CONSIDER THESE POINTS:
re: stocked up food, gear, etc.
a)If what you have will fit into your vehicle along with your family, pets, etc. YOU DON’T HAVE ENOUGH.
b)Do you have ACTUAL, ‘HANDS-ON’ EXPERIENCE using what you do have? c)Do you realize that you will be a target for looters who WILL far outnumber those that are prepared. Can and will you defend what you have with the understanding that these altercations will TRULY BE ‘a matter of life and death’? This realization may come slower to those of us that are not suffering from the motivation of eminent starvation, and hence, hinder an adequate response to deter such a ‘mob-mentality’ assault. Know yourself, your abilities AND your limitations.
re:leaving your home for ‘parts unknown’. Even if you know exactly where you are going and are familiar with such a place, it may all be ‘unknown’ in the sense that the world may be so disrupted that what was familiar between ‘point A’ and ‘point B’ can not be relied upon as being the same. Accidents, road blocks, road rage, mobs, road and bridge conditions… “hmm… vehicles in front, vehicles behind, no way to turn around, no access to other roads available…” equals: being STUCK, RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE! Surrounded by frustrated, angry, scared, strangers – with everything you are counting on to ensure your survival stranded, along with your family, how far away from home? Another UNDENIABLE FACT: That the ‘ever-so-helpful’ onboard computerized assistance system, found in all new vehicles, not only has the GPS TRACKING/LOCATION technology but also has the capability to shut down your vehicle within moments of the request being received (even I have seen the commercials touting this) This action would easily fall into the scope of ‘EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990′ and shuting down the availabilty of gas will come under ‘EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997′ (see these and other ‘MUST READ’ information at: http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/fema_executive_orders.htm ) I would also STRONGLY SUGGEST THE VIDEO ‘WASHINGTON, YOU’RE FIRED’; also ANY videos from INFOWARS.COM
re: Supposing you do make it to where you want to go… what then? a) Do you know the people? Do the people KNOW you? Under the circumstances, do you believe that you will be welcomed with open arms or will you be seen as a threat to whatever limited supplies and resources there are and the sustainability of what may be at best, a percarious situation?
How do you suppose the outpouring of ‘refugees’ from the cities and suburbs are going to be seen by the established inhabitants of the rural areas. (I don’t watch much tv but the few times I saw the series JERICHO it seemed a ‘reasonable scenero’)
b)How will you know ‘the good guys’ from ‘the bad guys’. Who do you think will be betrayed first, (by those of such persuasion), for favors or lienency from the powers that be?
We must understand that were human nature ‘inherently good’ we would not be looking to the future as we are. We can not expect ‘the best’ to shine through in any plentiful amount amongst strangers when everyone is coming to grips with the pain of tremendous upheaval, betrayal and loss. It will take a while for ‘life’ to right itself, though it will never be the same. Trust in God, seek His face, seek to know Him through His son and our Saviour YHSH (Yahashuah, or however you wish to spell it.) Of all our relationships, the relationship we have with God should be the one in which we are most comfortable and the most confident. Man has created religions filled with their own doctrines when all God wants is a true relationship. He’s calling His Children out of Babylon right now. If you feel a strange nudging don’t disregard it – your spirit knows what it is… Seek GOD. It may seem that I have ‘gone off on a tangent’, but in fact, it is all tied together. The prophecies and science are saying the same thing. How odd that what has been said to be two opposite views are now validating one another. Does this not speak of truth being established?
Well, my advice, for those who might be interested, is this:
1. Determine whether staying where you are is a good idea or perhaps somewhere close by. If not, can you relocate now? Do not expect to be able to later.
2. Get to know your neighbors – for good or bad, know who is around you.
3. Inform those you already know and trust with fact-based information and help them to ‘open their eyes’ to what may be on the horizon.
4. Build a true ‘support-network’ of viable, hard-working, individuals who understand loyalty and discretion. Please understand, BY NO MEANS AM I SAYING TO DISREGARD OR EXCLUDE ANYONE WITH INFIRMITIES OF ANY SORT! IT IS FAR BETTER TO HAVE A DEAR OLD LADY IN A WHEELCHAIR WHO CAN TEND TO A BABY WHILE MOM DOES THE GARDEN WORK, THAN TO HAVE A LAZY, EGOTISTICAL, SELF-SERVING PERSON WHO TALKS MUCH AND DOES LITTLE – NO MATTER HOW STRONG AND HEALTHY THEY MAY BE. SO BE CAUTIOUS WHO YOU TIE YOURSELVES TO.
5. Set in place plans for potential situations. Such as joining together in small communal living situations for the benefit and protection of all. Have what you need before you need it.
SUGGESTED WEBSITES (and audio): ‘theheartlandusa’ *see ‘Castle Defense’ videos; infowars.com – website and live radio; Steve Quayle website and radio shows: ‘Survive 2 Thrive’, ‘Shatter the Darkness’, and ‘Q Files’; ‘The Power Hour with Joyce Riley’
6. Get some hands-on, practical firearms training. (Ask at actual gun shops for info.)
7. Get hard copy information on whatever subjects you need.
8. Get a good water filtering system (I suggest Berkey).
9. Inexpensive, healthy food – buy in bulk at health food stores; store in plastic milk jugs and juice containers.
10. Get heirloom seeds. Beans from the grocery store also produce (black beans produce great quantities); also most potatoes, carrots and onions can be an ongoing food source. Potatoes grow more potatoes, carrots and onions will produce seeds to be planted the following year. Irradiated foods will not produce – go organic for growing crops if you are unsure of what the local store is selling.
I apologize for such a long response but it will likely be my only one. May it serve a purpose.
God bless you all…
You hit the manipulation of oil prices right on the nose when you indicate that those in power have a strategy to “warm us up” to the idea of higher prices of oil by putting us through the up/down cycles. I believe this also goes for all other energy/resource consumption, including food prices and availability of food.
Our talking heads are also “warming us up” to the idea that many of us younger workers will never see the money we have been forced to pay into Social Security & Medicare. We have a contract with our government that we have been paying into and they would dare suggest they are going to break the contract and just say “Sorry, we already spent the money you gave us so you’re out of luck?”
Those words are being bounced around like their contract with every worker out there means nothing. Why do we keep paying into this contract if we know it won’t pay off for us down the road? Their answer, “If you stop paying, then those currently on Social Security will not have any income or medicine and do you want the whole system to fail and your grandparents to die?” This has been a bargain with the devil from the beginning that keeps getting worse as time wears on.
Any one who is aware of the Bernie Madoff scam and his pyramid scheme can easily see how Social Security is our own pyramid scheme, (pay in money now so that you can get a payout later during your golden years, only, they really aren’t holding our money for us but lending it out to others for a return). Unfortunately, the government was supposed to hold this money “In Trust” for future payouts to those that paid in but it has become a “Fund” that has been “drawn on” extensively because it seemed to make sense at the time for the “benefit” of many Americans.
If the fund runs short down the road, can we keep raising taxes? No, we would then have a tax revolt on our hands and no politician can get in office by saying he is going to raise taxes, (they just wait until they are in office and then they raise taxes no matter how much they promised they wouldn’t; (almost always due to an emergency they did not foresee!). Great excuse!!!
I am very, very upset at this not being taken more seriously by all of our elected officials through the years and basically being ignored or “put off” for future generations to handle. The average citizen has been kept in the dark for so long now that they don’t know who or what to believe so it is easy to sway someone if you have a good enough story and it seems to be logical at the time to handle each crisis as it comes up. Many get into office because people think they represent “Hope” or “Change” when actually they can provide neither for a system that has become a house of cards. And to make matters worse during the Depression, why not provide Health Care for every one in America? Where is this money supposed to come from? Oh, and by the way, if you don’t sign up for any health insurance, we’ll take money from you anyway! It’s a nice Socialist ideal, (to help others), but WOW, what a time to throw more burdens on companies and individuals in America so that everyone can have healthcare, (but not necessarily quality healthcare unless you fall within certain tolerances of the established laws in place). With such a system in place, I would expect America to soon become the “Union of North American Socialists” and we can all join in with Mexico and Canada and sing “Kum by ya” as we are told which Flu shots to take and how many calories we can consume because we are slightly overweight and we cannot see the doctor any more unless we lose those 20 pounds because we are more of a burden to the system and we are more expensive than our fellow “Healthy” Socialist who can afford more healthy food because his parents gave him their house, their car and everything else they had, and now this good Socialist does not have income, (lost his job), and he currently qualifies to be on the “government health care plan” which everyone pays into. Does this seem fair? Must I go on?
So here we sit in the big melting pot of America that started simmering a number of years ago, (details of what caused the simmering to start are out there if you look hard enough).
Many have enjoyed the American “hot tub” that felt really nice and many lived the “high life” and now the dial has been turned up to “HIGH” and if many don’t become aware of our dire situation ahead of time, many will be boiled to death since they can no longer crawl out of the pot because they are too weakened by the system that had felt so good to them for so long, but now the heat has been turned up and it will begin consuming them till they can no longer crawl out and survive.
These are dire times and many will perish in America with the upcoming events, (as in Haiti which is ill equipped to handle such a dire emergency), but those with power, money and other resources will implement their plan and take advantage of those that did not see this coming and things will then get very simple.
Does anyone remember the Twilight Zone episode where the neighborhood falls apart and survival of those with the bomb shelter and the most resources, money and food find themselves the receivers of the hatred of those that did not plan ahead for an emergency? Does the hoarding of guns & food and locking yourself up in your house do any good for the community you live in?
Are you able to help others or just yourself and those closest to you? Are you willing to sacrifice your lifestyle to help others or will you try to maintain what you have created for yourself?
The majority of us in America have been slowly trained to be consumers rather than creators over the past 50 years and now those who are the creators are dictating what price we, the consumers, must pay for their commodities. How many out there have taught themselves to fix their own vehicles, houses, appliances, electronic devices, etc.? How many can create their own food? How many can survive on their own without assistance from “the system”.
I imagine that many are not willing, educated or creative enough to take care of themselves without all of the help they receive on a daily basis from so many different resources. Many times this comes down to the question, “Are you a follower or a leader”? Are you able to take care of yourself and others or are you totally reliant on others for your survival?
If you really get down to brass tacks, it comes down to the ultimate question of “What and Who do you believe in?” Do you believe in just yourself or others or do you believe in a power greater than yourself that can help you and others?
May God have mercy on us and give us grace and hope in these trying times and guide us to help others when they are in trouble, each according to their abilities.

I enjoyed reading your article and encourage others to visit survivalblog.com to learn from others about preparing for what’s to come. If you don’t prepare you will die and your family will die. If you run you will die because there is no where to go and hide. Start now and you may make it, start later when it’s too late and there is no food or water available you will surely die. The majority of people who died from Katrina did so due to indecisiveness and unpreparedness. Have a plan and make sure everyone in your family supports it and knows what to do when it is time. If your plan is to stay home and stick it out as long as you can understand looters, raiders and other bad people will come for you and your supplies. Remember they and their family members are going hungry because they were idiots and didn’t stock up on basic supplies when they had a chance. Know how to fortify your home and what your plan is in the event they come (and they will). Think about it this way, someone hungry – really hungry and hasn’t eaten for days smells food, what do you think is going to happen? Lastly never ever tell anyone you are preparing as they will be the 1st to knock on your door when the SHTF!
Thank you for this excellent article and all the great comments.
I am fairly new to this and after extensive research over the last 6 months have learned just enough to realise that I know very little. An article like this helps to point people like me in the right direction so we dont waste valuable time looking in the wrong direction.
The end is coming, sooner or later. I would sooner prepare now than tell my kids in a few years time that we have got no food.
If you want some really long term predictions the Bibles “Revelation” has some scary stuff in it, particularly when you consider that the vast majority of the Bibles prophesies have already come true.

Interesting site . I knew the first colapse was coming and predicted that it would occur in Oct of 2008.
Thanks for the nice article. A ” bird’s eye” view of major indicators and easy trends to watch.Regardless of what they say-2010 is going to be a very interesting year.
I just got into this conversation Guys.
I am an ex patriot and have been living in Costa Rica for the past 20 years. Life here is smooth and easy.
I feel sorry for all of you that have to go through this coming collapse, but you have to admit you brought it on by yourselves. You have been caught sleeping and I agree with one of you guys, you need to take this country back if you still can. I don’t believe this is possible however, so you might want to consider re locating.
Costa Rica is still a Republic and is both democratic and social. My water bill is $20 a month, my electric is $40 and I can live on $300 bucks a month if need be.
No heating bills, everything grows here, there is water on the side of the road that you can drink and you can buy a piece of a properety 2+ acres with water bubling up from the ground, boardering a year round river for around $125,000. Not in American please.
You could probably support 20 people on a property this size, and there are beaches all over the place.
Do your homework fellas. If I were any of you I would be bailing out right now instead of trying to figure out how to live with nothing until you have to hit the road to survive, because by that time you will really be screwed. Serious, if you want to make a change, I’ll help to set you up here in Costa Rica.
Give me a shout, I am dead serious – americanwithacar@hotmail.com
I would love to help anyone of you.
Good Luck and God Bless you all from the bottom of my heart.
P.S. You can’t beat these guys with guns. Check out group consciousness on your browser or see The Divine Cosmos web site.
I’ll give you another lead, the powers that be are afraid of us using our minds collectively, of this you need to be aware.
Frank
Frank:
I hate to tell you but Costa Rica will be subject to globalized government just as much as the U.S. Count on it.
During a global crisis, running away will solve nothing, because there is nowhere to run to. Standing and defending your home and your freedoms is preferable to scrambling across the world in fear.
Also, I think its a bit early to make the claim that fighting back would be useless. That’s what they said about the American Revolution. The British were “unbeatable”.
I find usually the people who have never prepared themselves for self defense or been in a self defense situation are the same people who are so quick to give up before a fight even starts. They don’t even know what it means to fight back.
Frankly, Frank, there are millions of us, and I don’t see our chances of stopping the NWO fading anytime soon.
Until all this happens anyone preparing a plan for their mortgage? Will the mortgage we all have become useless? Should we take on more loans to buy prepare items if there is no one to payback too when a collapse occurs? What will happen dept?
Great for anyone who knows to reply.
Thanks

Bbereas, your comment is golden. I have printed it out for reference. We (my bride and I) agree with you, in all respects. We live in rural Montana so we are not faced with some of the challenges that an urban dweller would be. We notice that finding like-minded individuals in our area is nearly impossible. Even those that claim to be awake are sorely unprepared. Mostly it is milk-toast individuals who need to take control of a situation regarding a close family member who is resisting the clarion call to “Get ready”.
If your spouse or family resists, so be it. Take the bit in your teeth, and do what you can. Anything is better than nothing.

If the system breaks badly, then no more resupply of stores via the just in time ordering system, no meds, no trucking. If no power, then no tv, computer, gas pump, a/c or heat or cellphone services. The best I can do now is two months of food and some essentials. After that its time for the new government and the new currency to prevail and provide. If the market drops to 4000 I will probably stop paying mortgage and bills and keep my money in the bank. For most there is no retreat or redoubt to go to. If the market goes below 9000 start getting more canned foods and water and hope ben and tim work it out. i empathize with the Canadian comments, we do live in fear of one and another. However, two weeks to two months of food and stuff is prudent per household. Thanks, Mike
well i guess i might of found a website that makes sense.and maybe not be censored like infowars.as far as the ecomony goes Giordano is right on.I have the advanage over most people we have our own mining operation(small scale)and i’ve been doing it since gold was $70.00 a ounce so i understand a little bit about the economy and fiat currency can’t last it never has.we’re almost completely independent a few more solar panels.i also know our economy isn’t coming back and moving to Costa Rica won’t work i’ll stay and fight.when gold was $70.00 oz.your federal reserve note went alot further and now i think gold is under priced.this is only the beginning.thanks Giordano keep up the good work i passed this on to 10 other people.
Giordano,
Good article. Am l saying this correctly; when the collapse happens in America, it will filter around the world. Reason why l’m asking is because l’m from Australia, and l’ve been preparing for many months now.
Gio,
Great article! What do you think will be the impact on ordinary folk like me in the UK? Will we also experience inflation as a result of the dollar collapse or will the pound soar?
Also, if you want to gwt your money out of the bank where do you put it?? cash under the bed??
Thanks
Rachael
For those that are stockpiling food, water, guns, ammo, booze: what do you do when it all runs out? I presume you are also hoarding drilling equipment (for water wells), refinery equipment (for creating fuel), coal or dams (for generating electricity to make those refineries and wells actually operate), what else..oh, farmland to grown your own crops and livestock, medical professionals (for when you get sick or shoot yourself in the leg with all of those guns)…on & on. Wow you all must really have your own little empires going in your backyards….while you are playing chicken little, the rest of us are down at the pub having a pint or two…more for us!
Critical Thinker:
Thanks for exposing the irony inherent in your alias, “Critical Thinker”. We all enjoy a laugh here now and again.
By your response, I’m guessing that you are making the assumption that everything will work out just fine in the economy. Many people, on the other hand, are smart enough not to make such assumptions. We are making REASONABLE preparations so that we may sustain ourselves and our families in the event of a collapse. No one needs a refinery or a coal mine to be self sufficient, you just need the ability to provide food, water, and protection.
Its interesting how you equate personal survival with concepts of industrialization. I suppose many Westerners have been so brainwashed they now believe they cannot live for any amount of time without cars and TV.
I’m assuming that you are from the UK since you use the term “Pub” and “Pint”. Good luck with that. Your little island is currently facing a massive national deficit and is on the verge of default. You’ll be no safer than anyone in the U.S. Actually less so, since you have no firearms to defend yourself with. Enjoy that pint, guy……
Giordano,
Thank you for a very astute article. You said, “I actually hope that I and other economists and researchers predicting this are proven wrong, but the data suggests otherwise.”
Actually, I hope that you are correct. I’d just as soon face it and get it over with. The system is like a termite-infested bordello that needs to be completely razed. It’s hard to wait and wait for the battle you know is coming. Many of my acquaintances also agree that the crisis event will happen this year. An astrologer friend with 30 years experience, says to look for it to come in August, that the charts are indicating a violent upheaval at that time.
We all refer to the term “to wake up” because when you finally “get” what’s going on, that is exactly how it feels. I woke up to all the lies and manipulation about 2 years ago, and there is no way to put the genie back into the bottle. Unfortunately, I can’t get any of my family to listen, so I don’t have a support group. I’m worried because I live alone and in a townhouse, not a home in the country. I’ve stocked a good amount and have protection, but if there are roaming bands of desperate people, I don’t think my chances will be very good. It is heartbreaking that the people you want to save, and be with, turn a deaf ear. I’m 60 years old and this is all so depressing that I can hardly sleep at night. Even though it is really scary, I DO want to see how it all turns out, if I’m lucky enough to survive. These are BIG times!
Question: I have my holdings with Peter Schiff’s Euro Pacific fund which gets me out of the dollar, but if the rest of the world suffers too, does it make any sense to be in any equities or bonds at all…even if they are foreign? Will all economies crash & burn, or will productive, manufacturing nations get through it alright?
Someone famous said that the Fed can keep the markets irrational longer than we can stay solvent.
I hope that is not the case, for the sake of future generations.

I wouldn’t give up on your family just yet. Don’t get in their faces about it, but keep mentioning the info, and showing them articles and films. When the economy takes the next downturn, they will be far more likely to listen to what you have to say. Some people just need a psychological kick in the pants before they see the truth, but they aren’t necessarily hopeless.
I am a supporter of Peter Schiff’s views on the economy. I think that he has always been ahead of the game. He is basically predicting a dollar collapse or treasury insolvency, which is what we are predicting given the evidence. The problem is that the timing is difficult to gage. If you have a lot of capital tied up in other currencies, this can make things a little tense. I think a sure bet is gold and silver. The dollar is already inflated and treasuries are only hanging on because the Fed is pumping out fiat money to prop them up, and that can’t last for much longer before China or OPEC starts dumping them in retaliation.
Any country that is making an effort to avoid inflation would be a safer currency than the dollar. Will you get stinking rich off this strategy? Probably not. But your savings would be far safer than if they were invested in dollar denominated securities.
It’s too late to worry about internal collapse because it’s already occurred. From the moment the 9/11 towers were struck the American people started their downward descent into a neofascist police state. Paralyzed with fear and uncertainty we surrendered our honor and our civil rights without a struggle into the hands of the madmen and thieves who rule the nation today in exchange for a false sense of security which is crumbling as you read this. What’s left is a mirage of democracy hich will soon evaporate along with the economy.
Figaro:
Not if I and millions of others in the Liberty Movement have anything to say about it. Organized opposition doesn’t just spring up overnight, it took colonial Americans nearly two decades to finally rally around the revolution. The truth is 9/11 was only a footnote in this struggle. There will be many more to come. There are opportunities to fight tyranny everyday, and the fight isn’t over until you are dead.
Dear giordano, I’m glad you enjoyed a laugh from my post – you all sound like you need to lighten up, however you didn’t answer any of the question from the post. I asked how long you could survive with your stockpile and no industrialization? Weeks? Months? Then what? You’ll take your band to town on horseback and rob the banks a la James & Dillenger? Ok, boys. By the way, why do I need to stockpile when I know you have so much? Har har har.. Footnote: there are plenty of private citizens with “firearms” in the UK, another myth perpetuated by those who wish to scare others. Is your favorite movie “Red Dawn”? Swayze at his finest! Lighten up fellows! Crack one of those cases of Tennessee whiskey you have stashed – cheers, mate.
Critical Thinker:
Actually, we do take this information very seriously. Whether you do or not is up to you. You respond with cynicism so as to avoid directly confronting the facts presented here, which is a little sad, but again, your choice.
As to your question, human beings survived without industrialization for thousands of years. If we had to we could do it again. It wouldn’t be fun, but then sometimes you have to play the cards you are dealt. The ultimate goal would be to rebuild. What you are attempting to present is a hypothetical question to which there is no one answer. It all depends on the events that lay ahead. If you are looking for a crystal ball reading, you’ve come to the wrong place.
But then, this is a serious answer and I don’t think that is what you are looking for. I think what you are looking for is some kind of overreaction to your flaccid attempt at ridicule. Which is why, as I said, I have to laugh at your alias. A real “critical thinker” would have responded to this article with at least a hint of objectivity. You seem to think being objective means acting naive.
Btw, I don’t consider clay pigeon shotguns and hunting rifles as adequate protection, and neither should you, considering that is all that is available in the UK. Not to mention, you are required to apply for licenses to have either, and prove to the local authorities that you “need” a firearm in your particular line of work, or sport.
In the UK, the Firearms Act of 1988 banned semi-automatic and pump-action rifles; weapons which fire explosive ammunition; short shotguns with magazines; and elevated pump-action and self-loading rifles. Registration was also made mandatory for shotguns, which were required to be kept in secure storage. Meaning any weapon that would be useful in actual combat is unavailable to you.
In 1997, they passed the 2nd Amendment to the Firearms Act, which made any pistol above a .22 caliber (target pistol) illegal to own. You’re not even allowed to own an air rifle until you are 18 under law.
So yes, you are effectively disarmed. I suggest you learn the laws of your own country, it may help in the future.
I’ve been to lots of info sites, but this one has really been beneficial! I also like Rawles’ site, but what you have provided here has answered many of the questions I’ve been asking. Knowledge is powerful. Just knowing what to watch for is empowering. I feel sorry for the ones who are so clueless – why is being prepared such a terrible thing? How did we let anyone convince us of that??? I’ll be showing this piece to my family also…Thanks!!
All these signs are awesome. If people ignore them, they deserve what they get. I have shown and forwarded this to several friends. However, I do not believe another terrorist attack would do as much as a natural event such as a hurricane.
I am leaning more toward September or October, a few months after the Census is finished and the real unemployment numbers come out. Until then, the economy may actually swell up and look good. Just like before an old person dies, they often get up, go to church, have a great meal, work in the garden, visit with friends and that night or the next morning, their gone. It takes family and friends by surprise.
If the economy actually does suffer an orchestrated crash, major metropolitan areas will feel it first ~ remember Katrina/New Orleans? Did the Federal Government help those people out, in any significant way? And that was a natural disaster. Imagine an ORCHESTRATED financial disaster. What then? You should have a plan for what you will do, and where you will go, in the event you need to leave the city. Think about where you could go, where you would be ‘safe’ during an economic collapse ~ where you’d be most likely to successfully weather the storm.
Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!
