Depletion of global resources, hoarding of global resources, or exerting unreasonable power within a global governance would not seem to be in the best interests of the globe, and ultimately, will destroy the earth and the people on it. Nuclear wars may not be our more immediate problem, but one of continuous concern relative to spontaneous death. Long, slow mismanagement brings the same potential for death - in the end. Since profits are irrelevant in the face of global destruction, strategies designed to curb incentives and increase the likelihood of global survival seem favorable. Is there really a choice without an alternative planet to jump to? While there is a transition from national military power to corporate thugs there still needs to be one major entity which is known as 'TEH THUGNESS'. Until then national military force will still be needed so in some way the country chosen as the avatar of the global elite has to be propped up. China will be the new power, but for the moment the United States is still critical as a war machine. There will either be a revolution (directed by Jerry Bruckheimer) or a civil war if the resistance to war is both too uncomfortable for the elite and and too small to stop them. We can't pussyfoot around this thing. This country needs a RENAISSANCE if we're to bounce from the collapse. That means anything you do well you have to teach to 3 other people.
